We all share a common bond in that we are born, we live, and we die. We all have a story to tell, our legacy to impart. How we spend our time here is up to us. How we spend our dying process can be determined by those who surround us at that time. Knowing more about this time in all our lives and the lives of our loved ones can better enable us to make informed decisions. Hospice is a philosophy of care that seeks to help the dying individual remain comfortable and safe. This evening will help you understand that death with dignity is attainable with adequate resources and that respecting the spirit of the dying is possible through active listening and sacred presence.
Presenter: Laura Borelli has attended OLC retreats for eighteen years as a parishioner of St. Matthew parish in Bristol. She has been blessed with the ability to share her passion for God’s people along with her career as a Hospice RN. She currently works for Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care out of Meriden as a Hospice primary care nurse. Laura believes that her life’s work of assisting others safely and comfortably through their dying process is truly a ministry. She finds peace in the small wonders of life and still seeks God’s presence in them.
